Conference Center, adjacent Japanese Garden, overlooking Honolulu city  beaches and hiking

The International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA), SouthEast Asia-Pacific AudioVisual Archive Association (SEAPAVAA) and University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa invite you to participate in the 56th annual IASA-SEAPAVAA conference from 8-11 September 2025 at the East-West Center, Imin International Conference Center.

Our goal in this conference is to focus on how climate change transforms landscapes and challenges cultural identities.

The 2025 IASA-SEAPAVAA conference invites submissions that:

  1. Explore preservation of climate-impacted media—film, sound, audiovisual records, and scientific data
  2. Examine the intersections of climate, culture, and marginalized identities, including Polynesian third-gender perspectives and indigenous knowledge systems.

Please see the call for submissions page for more info about sending in your contributions.

The event will be hybrid, combining in-person and providing online components.

The conference will take place at the picturesque East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii! Nestled in the heart of the University of Hawaii at Mānoa campus, this world-class conference center offers a serene and inspiring setting surrounded by lush tropical landscapes. With state-of-the-art facilities and a unique blend of modern amenities and cultural heritage, making it the perfect venue to connect with global professionals in sound and audiovisual archives.
